Getting Started
Updated 2023-05-24
Welcome to ITGig! ITGig is designed for you to get set up easily. There are just a few simple steps to get started.
Things to do first
In order to get going, the basic things you will need to set up are:
- A customer
- A project for the customer
Add a Customer
- Go to the Customers page
- Tap the Add a Customer button
- Provide the details for the customer
For details on adding and managing customers, visit the Customers help page
Now that you have a customer, you can create projects
Add a project
- Go to the Projects page
- Tap the Add a Project button
- Choose the customer you previously created and provide the project details.
- If you are the only user in your company, you will automatically be added as a resource for the project and you can skip the next step.
- If your company has more than one user: After you have created the project, select Manage Resources on the Projects page to add resources to the project. Only assigned resources are allowed to bill time.
For more details on adding and managing projects, visit the Projects help page
Now that you have a project, you can begin logging time.
Log time
- Go to the Timesheets page
- Enter your time for the week. You can also use the arrow buttons at the top right of the page to go forward or back in time (well, not literally).
Set up payment details
If you would like your customers to pay with credit card or checking account, you will need to set up or link a Stripe account.
- Go to Company Settings-> Payment Settings
- Click on Create or Link Stripe Account
- From here, you can either log into your Stripe account and connect it to ITGig or create a new one
The information you provide to Stripe during account creation will not be shared with ITGig
If you created a new Stripe account, it should be active within 15 minutes. If not, login to Stripe and provide any missing information it requests. Once Stripe has verified your information, your account will be active.
- Stripe charges a fee for transactions (see Stripe for details). Depending on your location's laws, you might be able to pass this fee along to your customer. If so, you can check Add fee to invoice to cover Stripe surcharges.
Create an Invoice
- Go to Invoices -> Create Invoice
- The first time you create an invoice, you may be prompted to provide your company's address and phone number. This address will be included on your invoices.
- Select the customer and projects you would like to include on the invoice.
- For hourly projects, the time and rate are used to calculate the amount due.
- For fixed-rate projects, the fixed rate of the project is used to calculate the amount due
- You can also include expenses, change who receives the invoice, and override the project default settings.
- After the invoice is created, you can make changes to it. Click the email button at the top right to send to your customer.
